I am watching you on the Martha Stewart show “as we speak.” And I am captivated by your shadow puppets. Last week, I took my grandchildren, ages 6 and 4, to a children’s theatre performance that incorporated shadow puppets into the show. They had seals and a whale “swimming” from Antarctica to the North Pole. The children loved the entire show but were particularly enchanted by the shadow puppets. They are both imaginative and “crafty” kids who will love making their own shadow puppets and putting on their own shows. They would love to have the free puppets already assembled as a model for their own creations.

Just happened to catch your shadow puppets on Martha Stwart’s show while checking out our north east weather on TV. I love to do crafts with my young charges in my family day care business and will be trying the puppets, as per your instructions, soon. The long cold winters of upstate New York are a lot more fun with some neew craft ideas and creative toys. Thanks for the great ideas!

I’m watching your segment on MS as I type this out and you make it look so easy. I homeschool my daughter and my son attends a Waldorf kindergarten and if there’s anything I try to do regularly it is to introduce something that will peak their interest and ignite their creativity. We spend some time watching the Martha show for craft inspiration and we live in the Pocono Mountain area of Pennsylvania so, we spend a good bit of time learning about what is in our natural surroundings. This year we are following the Iditarod and learning about the animals in that part of the world. These puppets will be a fun way to communicate what we learn about in Alaska.

My kids love to try and make shadows with their hands while in the dark. I think they would have so much fun with the real thing. Thank you for sharing with us on the Martha Stewart show. We will try and make them, but I’m sure yours are much better. Good luck with your products and have fun!!

I’m watching the Martha Stewart show as I type this. The shadow puppets look great! It’s really nice to see toys going back to their old-fashioned roots. I’ve been a preschool teacher and a nanny and this idea is a creative project for older children and can put on a great show for younger children.

My kids play with your shadow puppets that they got for Christmas every night before bed, they love them, so I know they will love a few more added to their collection! My youngest even started making her own shadow puppets over the weekend using recycled cereal boxes cut into animal shapes! Oh the creativity!

My grandson’s nameday is coming up at the beginning of February and I’d love to give him the shadow puppets if they’re appropriate for a precocious 2.5 yr old. Anybody know?

I just saw you on Martha’s show. You did a great job, although it was a bit too fast for me to follow (hope you will put it on youtube). I love the idea of you walking me through how to put it together. I especially love the idea of being able to buy the kit already with everything I need. What a fun activity, a great mom and kids craft. I linked you to my blog because I love your product. I know that it will be a lot of fun for mom’s and children. Thanks for creating these great craft kits.

Nina,
While 2.5 is a bit young to play with our puppets, my 20 month-old son adores watching the shadows we make with them. We throw a sheet over some chairs and perform a dinner theater for fun while he eats!
Thanks for your interest. =)

They are already on my gift list for the holidays this year for my grandchildren and great-nieces….hmmmm, I just might have to keep some on hand for when the little ones visit too! And materials for wonderful grandmother-grandchild activities! Good job! Thank you! They definitely bring back memories to me of a simpler time!

I’m so glad I caught the Martha Stewart Show this morning! Even though I was home sick, I took notes on the mini workshop Meredith gave to Martha. I am definitely going to make these with my 2nd grade reading students. Your shadow puppets seem like they are fun to make and use and I know they will be a great teaching tool!

My husband and I play Greek shadow theatre called Karaghiozis. The puppets in this type of theatre are of two kinds. One is colourful figures on white acetate and the other is the type you make on black hard cardboard with cuttings and holes for the light to go through.Karaghiozis is a traditional folklore type of theatre with its origins in Turkey.
We loved your puppets and would like to take part in the giveaway.

I watched your live demo on marthastewart fineliving show and I was impressed. From where I come in India Shadow puppetry has been very common media for imparting information on various social issues on daily life. I have used puppets in school with the kids in my teaching career and found it to be a very effective tool.Puppets shows have been very famous especially in Bengal ,South India and Rajasthan inIndia.

Caribou, polar bears and muskox, oh my!
It is great to see muskox with the other arctic animals, they get forgotten. I can’t wait to make shadow puppets to use to describe arctic food chains. Very cool.

Shadow puppets, what a great idea—we have 4 grandchildren 4-11 years we could have a great creative time!—they could really express themselves with each animal or character. It is so much fun to let the children use their creative mind.
